Fps drop

Fps drop

Postby Mysto » Fri May 18, 2007 6:28 pm

Hello.

I have Windows Vista with a new computer.
AMD Turion64x2
nVidia GeForce Go 7600

Finally, after some arguing with my computer, it seem to be working pretty good (for vista). But I still have one issue. Like every minute I suffer from FPS drop, when I at first point run CS Source at max graphic quality in 70 fps stable, it goes down to 20 fps for some seconds before it goes back to normal. It happens all the time.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Seeing as it is a laptop, I am using an external one.

Input: 100-240V~1,5A 50-60Hz
Output: 20V 4,5A

The little information I could find.

Any help is greatly appriciated :D

There could be four problems according to my experiences with computer.

1-) Try to disable your sound card thru Bios Options of ur mainboard (or laptop setup options),
2-) Your Memory could be not enough for it, try to disable all virus programs/trojan programs/etc by using Task Manager or manually thru the programs.
3-) Try to install Windows XP to ur partitioned Hard disk if avaiable, if not, use a program to divide it by not removing the Windows Vista.
4-) Try another graphic drivers if available, but do not forget to uninstall and reboot the computer every time u try a driver. (Try Older versions specially)

Some Advices:

1) Use 3dMark or such programs that are capable to test ur graphic card performance. Check if there is a stability problem while running it.
2) Try to install ur games into the another partition of ur hard disk for better performance and that harddisk should have at least 5-6 GB freespace for buffering sometimes.
3) Be sure u have 1GB+ Ram for games.

NOT: If u are using laptop, do not forget to plug it to the electricity socket.

what does it mean?

You can always install another operation at any time to every kind of PC/Laptops :)

if u don't know how to, just use "Partition Magic" or something like that divides your harddisk thru Windows Vista.

this is an adapter information, not ur power supply, but doesnt matter, it couldnt be a power supply problem while u are using crappy GE 7600 :P

Gief other information of ur computer like:

Hard disk Speed: 5400 RPM or lower?
RAM: 1GB 2GB 512 MB?

it will be enough for better explanation to solve ur problem and try the ways up here :)

The problem must be lacking of RAM.

I have Windows Vista Ultimate edition, and, in fact, i got a FPS boost and a graphic quality boost :P

In the beginning vista was a mess, but atm its almost perfect.
I am lovin it!

But mysto, check your RAM. If u have only 1gyga... forget. U must have at least 2gygas to run vista as better as possible.
Serious... Trust on me!

Some more information:

FSC Amilo Xa1526
AMD Turion 64 X2 mobile technology TL-56 / 1.8 GHz
1 GB DDR II SDRAM
120 GB - Serial ATA-150
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 with DDR II SDRAM - 256 MB
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium

I don't have much more info about it :P

I also come to think about the fact that I run 32-bit OS and I have 64-bit processor. So will it have any effect if I install a 64-bit version of Vista?

I have allready disabled all virus programs and shit, and my system runs with few programs. Only the neccesery. So it can't be that.

I can try to install games into another partition. But I don't see why that is going to help. I can also try to check the stability of the graphic card, if you give me a link to the dl site.

I say try flippers Version.
Or as you say, new vista version if any people answer on those words, i don't know alot about computers as you probably already noticed. But i had a few friends that had problem with vista, and i got my brother who can speak pretty much about computers, not the best one, but he know quite many things. And most of the answers to my friends have been the RAM. Well, don't do as i say, try get more info from People who knows this sort of stuff :)
What did the Vista Phone-Support say? talked to them?

Well, I know now that Vista Ultimate supports 64-bit dual processors. But getting it will be a problem since I don't want to spend a fortune of money purchasing it. And the same thing with RAM, this one only have two spots for RAM, which is in use by two 512 RAM pieces. Since I don't have any 1g RAM chip, I will prolly have to spend money on that to.

Talk to Vista-Owners, Talk to flipper, if maybe 1G RAM+512MB RAM will be enough and you don't need to spend alot of money on that. But first find out if the RAM will help at all, 2nd, find out if 1g+512mb will be enough.
Also you could find out if the Vista Ultimate will help, so you know, just incase, if you really need to buy that thing. This sort of things isn't fun, i know.
Atleast i wish you the best of luck to solve the Problem, i think i've said my words, i don't think i can say any more wise words (if i ever said any...:P).
Just check with all supports first, and see.
Good luck!
