What is there to grasp? It's obvious why people spam their spells, and I've already stated why in my earlier posts.Hic wrote:Actually, it does, scorch is not 2.5 seconds, it's 1.5 and someone would get into trouble if he pressed the key too soon, for example. But I did explain it sharing my experience as a healer.
But Mondragon already said you have to press it when quartz have reached the red part.
What happens if you press it too soon?
You mean the fact that the spell won't trigger cast again, but only stop the current one that's casting? That's pretty self explainatory since everyone should know about the GCD by now. If you press the macro again before GCD has finished, it will only stop the cast but not recast it since your spell still have a CD.
Is that what you're trying to say, or does something else happen?Hic wrote:You'd obviously have to press it before it reached the latency meter if you didn't want it to land, it's a chaincasting mechanism that works (I did level my priest to 70 before doing the warlock, and it did work well. Way more intuitive than moving back and forth and / or jumping since it makes you loose some cast time)
Now I don't know if you didn't read the thread, or you didn't get it O_o
Yes, but Mondragon already said that in his post so you're just repeating his words o.O
1- If your point is to chain cast you cannot spamm the key because it'd start casting, interrupt, start casting, interrupt, start casting, interrupt (...) etc making it go slower or not at all. But since it was mentioned I thought it could have a point and asked if it did
2- The not so obvious part is that if the spell isn't actually cast, there shouldn't be global cooldown (if you stop by going back and forth you can avoid it), if you press for scorch too soon (before the cast ends) it won't cast and loose the cycle.
3- Yes, I explained it again because you said, and I quote, "If you'd use this macro for gheal that would be quite retarded", so I felt the need to explain it again. I do feel I was way more clear than him.

Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez, he told people to not spam the macro because people in general tend to spam their spells so they don't have to pay attention to the casting bar 24/7. How hard is that to understand? o.O

It's obvious for anyone who know know what GCD is. It always triggers in the beginning of your cast, not in the end of it. That's why you have to wait 1,5 secs even if you don't finish your cast.
We are moving away from our initial discussion which was that you asked why you should spam the macro when Mondragon said you shouldn't.

You can avoid it. try it with 2 keys, one to stop casting, the other to cast. It's a UI screw up.
I asked why would anyone do it, it's not the same as why should we do it. Did you read? One implies knowledge that we shouldn't, but it's possible he might be missing something, the other the exact oposite.
And we did drift, you started accusing me of a lot of things in all your posts, I simply picked up what you wrote and answered it. So if you didn't want it to stray you should have stopped when I said that blind bashing was wrong. Yes, because even though the only mistake I might have made was the santa joke quoting him, you managed to find 30 different other things to accuse me of... And I obviously wouldn't let it slip.

No, you can't. Just tried it, doesn't work. No need to lie to prove your point.
You are basically saying you can override GCD by using /stopcasting. Come on, man...
Quoting wowwiki;
"A global or universal cooldown is the cooldown which starts every time you start to cast a spell, and it affects all of your class spells."
Okay, let's assume you were right, and GCD only triggered if you actually cast the spell. That would mean that the GCD has to be triggered right when the spell is casted, right? Because it won't know if you will finish the cast until you've casted it, and thus there can't be a GCD until it knows you DO finish it.
Then a flash heal would be like this:
Flash heal 1,5 sec
GCD triggers and you can't cast a new spell for 1,5 secs.
That would mean 1 flash heal would take 3 seconds.

Err, what do you mean?

no, you can start one, notice it's wrong and cast one right after, you seriously aren't getting this. Have too much stuff to do right now, can't type an elaborate answer, but I'll tell you that I did test this while doing rogues. Start casting, wait for the kick, cast again. I did not stop 1.5 seconds, I did one right after the other and it worked every time. I don't have an account to test it right now, but I never said it was to override GCD, you can't, but the GCD count stops after you cancel a spell cast before it reaches the end.

I tested it further.
when you cancel the casting, the GCD resets but the delay is so big that you will still have GCD (because of a server check I guess) when it tries to do the second part of the macro. So, it doesn't have time to reset the GCD reset before the /cast shadow bolt is triggered and thus you will still be limited to GCD.
We were both wrong and right I guess

Nope, it isn't hard to play a lock but the class is one of the hardest to master. You can of course DPS by mashing one, two or three buttons but to fully utilize the powers of a lock you need to use 10+ skills frequently (even more if you are affliction).
This addon however has nothing to do with the complexity of the class and it's actually very useful even for those who just spam a few different spells over and over again. For someone with ~200ms ping (like Mondragon) using this to compensate lag can improve your DPS by almost 10% which is quite a substantial amount to overlook. Even I with 50ms'ish pings find this addon useful on long fights where you don't have to worry about other things than DPS'ing the target.

Hinata, I dont think you could be a good warlock by pressing one button like you say..I mean, shadowpriests have even less spells than locks..maybe you dont need buttons and just use that voice commander mod I linked last night!
Warlock is is a class that is very hard to master, dont care what anyone says. I am constantly trying to improve my character and performances..and this cast bar is a very easy dps increase.

Gear and spec don't put you on top of the meter unless everyone is playing perfectly. Effort puts you on top. Play to the strengths of your gear and spec, know your tank, know your situation.

As I said, crappy coding. It'd be so easier to let you do stuff and perform any check later, canceling if the flag came "negative" or whatever. That should be the workaround for this problem.
And hinata, that is BS, drain life starts being good only after you get some spell damage, since it has a really low base value but it scales really well.
And it's nowhere close to easy to play a warlock, keeping track of 5 debuffs at a time, sometimes on multiple targets and still being able to to do any extra job... It might be easy to top meters (mostly due to shadowpriests, I guess), but really hard to be the best at.

Yeah... Might be a way for blizzard to prevent exploits from overriding GCD.
Still waiting for that proof, hinata. :p
Also, in my oppinion, I'd hunters are the easiest to "bot" up with a macro. Send pet and auto attack :>
Shadow priests has a lot less spells to keep track of than locks do.
