Game freezing fixing tips?

Game freezing fixing tips?

Postby Piestalker » Mon May 16, 2011 1:12 pm

Recently my game started to freeze at seemingly random intervals. Not a disconnect or a WoW crash, but the game just stops responding. Would be very grateful to anyone with some tips as to the cause of this and ways to prevent it.

Try giving the wow process a higher priority in regards to clock time.

Start task manager -> Processes tab -> right click on wow*32 (not sure the exact name) -> set priority and increase it.

He told me uncheck a box "Optimize Network for Speed" under networking options.

Also it can cause problems if you are trying to run it in DX11. If you game freeze and crash it might help to leave it running in DX9

Seems to be crashing soon after I start to browse internet while playing. Could it be some kind of connection thing then, if disabling "optimize for speed" option helped a bit?

Sounds far fetched though, connection making the game stop responding rather than disconnecting me.

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6750 @ 2.66GHz 2.66GHz
2GB RAM
32-bit Windows 7 Ultimate
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 512

I tried running the game on the lowest settings, but it still stops responding the same way.

I got the same issue, also running it in DX11

High end system, 6GB, GTX480, i7 930ish, win7 64bit

It'll just "stop" and you get the message from Windows that it's stopped responding, where you can wait or quit. It doesn't happen frequently tho, last I had it was on PTR. Not had it on live for a week or so.

They did change the DX11 driver in wow to the normal one after 4.1 instead of the test one they had used until then.
